Timur Zobu MSc, MA, FHEA

I am a working screenwriter and have worked with the likes of Blueprint Pictures, Protagonist, Endor, and Cinéma Defacto as a screenwriter and script doctor on international feature film and television projects.

Primarily interested in science fiction, I have worked across genres including psychological thrillers, art-house and romantic comedy. I’m a senior screenwriting tutor and mentor at The MetFilm School, UCA Farnham, Central St Martins, and the Central School of Speech and Drama, as well as in the library at HMP Thameside and HMP Lewes where I teach screenwriting and hold ‘The Hero’s Journey’ workshops with the prisoners there.

I really enjoy all aspects of the writing and teaching process from the seed of a concept through to character development, structure and creating unique voices. I am particularly fascinated by the origin and meaning of stories and myths, why we tell them, and how their principles apply to writing today.

As well as having a masters with distinction in both scriptwriting and psychology, I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am currently training as a counselling psychologist and integrative psychotherapist with a particular interest in dreamwork, and the use of narrative and Gestalt techniques in group therapy.

Jon Gilbert (Screenwriter)

I am a London-based screenwriter with a particular passion for thrillers and underdog stories, and I write across a range of genres in both TV and film.

In my career to date, I have written for top production companies including Kudos, Range, Pulse, Big Talk, Agile and Bedlam, as well as working as a script editor at Universal and Industrial Scripts and teaching at institutions such as the London Film School, the London Film Academy, and MetFilm School, where I used to course-lead the BA in Practical Filmmaking.

I co-wrote the film adaptation of David Grossman’s award-winning novel The Zigzag Kid, starring Isabella Rossellini, which premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival. In TV, I’ve written episodes of two top-rated Channel 5 thrillers for Clapperboard: The Teacher (starring Sheridan Smith and Kelvin Fletcher, now on Netflix) and Love Rat (starring Sally Lindsey and Neil Morrisey, now on Disney+).

I have extensive experience working with both novice and experienced screenwriters, and take a supportive and nurturing approach to script development, coupled with a strong understanding of craft, structure and industry insight.

Mòrag Hawthorn

I am an emerging Glasgow-based actor and screenwriter with a particular love for dark comedy dramas. Who doesn’t want to cry and laugh all at the same time?

After receiving 1st-Class Honours from Goldsmiths University in English and Creative Writing (BA), I went on to complete both the 12-week Introduction to Screenwriting and the 6-month Episodic Course with Life in the Story.

Since then, I’ve co-written a short dystopian comedy, Bullsh*t and have been developing a TV Show, ‘Club 27’, set in Aotearoa (New Zealand) with a producer attached.

As an actor, I’m represented by Fiona Cross Management and have starred in several plays, musicals and short films.

Alongside writing and acting, I am the Studio Manager of AMAW London and the very important assistant here at Life in the Story.
